RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP
As much as I love my Gamecube and Nintendo 64 collections, I’d happily stack my Wii collection of games against anyone else’s. Out of the 31 Wii games I own, 24 of them were rated an 8.5 or higher by IGN and were blessed with the IGN Editor’s Choice award (including the entire Top 5). Now many gamers may question IGN’s review practices, but I’ve been a faithful reader since 1998 and I’ve never been lead astray. (Except for that Madworld purchase, but it was $8 new, so I’m not going to hold that against them.)
My only complaint with my Wii collection? It definitely signals my end of my transition from gamer to game collector. There’s more than a few games in my collection that I wouldn’t have looked twice at ten years ago, but managed to slide in because of their favorable reviews. I hate first person shooters, but Goldeneye 007 (9.0) and Red Steel 2 (8.5) both managed to find a spot on the shelf. Amazing, considering that before them, I’ve only owned one FPS previously - Perfect Dark on the Nintendo 64.
Maybe this is just a display of getting older. My inner 10 year old is buying all the latest and greatest games because he remembers how paltry his Super Nintendo collection was. Thankfully that inner 10 year old knows how much he loves platformers and picked up Super Mario All-Stars, DKC Returns, New Super Mario Bros., and both Mario Galaxy titles to scratch that itch. The most recent purchase of Rayman Origins wasn’t a mistake either.
/And now those 3 Beam and Cokes I had are starting to wear off… No more words.
