RUNAWAY TRUCK RAMP

rosieloveswords:

Penney’s decision to hire DeGeneres spurred conservative group One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, to slam the company for not being “neutral in the culture war.”

I am so sick of people wrapping hate in some sense of religious righteousness.

Judge not lest ye be judged. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Jesus’s message was one of love and forgiveness. Of understanding and empathy. Jesus was not the fire and brimstone guy. That was Paul — leave it to a convert to become a zealot in the name of Christ.

I’m tired of “tradition” or “values” being used to keep Americans locked in the Dark Ages. I’m tired of those things being used to perpetuate hate and fear. It’s repulsive.

And it’s counter to the message of Jesus — the man, the Son of God, so many of these so-called “culture warriors” claim as inspiration.

I’m tired of people spewing hate and then hiding behind their Bibles.

And I’m glad JC Penney stood by its decision and didn’t cave in to bigotry. Other corporations, and non-profits, should take note.
