In his feud against The Rock, John Cena was going up against a man who was loved and adored the world over when he left WWE. No matter how big of a star you are, that’s a huge mountain to climb. Against Lesnar, Cena’s playing the role of a wounded star going up against a man who was booed out of Madison Square Garden at WrestleMania XX. While the WWE likes us to play the patsy at times, we wrestling fans have long memories.
Yes, The Rock left WWE to make movies, but it was a gradual leaving that was done on good terms. Brock Lesnar quit to try his hand at what became an ill-fated NFL career.
