Some languages are just terrible to listen to.
Especially when you’re already irritated and impatient because the bus still hasn’t arrived yet and it’s starting to rain.
Agreed.
During my time at Progressive I often had to sit in on our language translation hotline while an interpreter took statements from clients. My least favorite language to sit in on? Mandarin Chinese. I’m sorry, but as an English speaker, it wasn’t even remotely pleasing to the ear. Odd considering that I had no qualms at all with (standard) Chinese or Taiwanese Mandarin.
